Innovation on Display

Research in the Capitol is an annual event celebrating undergraduate research in the Iowa State Capitol. Students from Iowa's Regent Universities -- Iowa State, University of Iowa, and University of Northern Iowa -- display posters and present their research to legislators, reporters, and top university administrators. The projects showcase the depth and variety of research done at Iowa State.

Quick facts

  • Twenty research projects are selected each year to represent Iowa State.
  • Submissions are evaluated by topic, relevance to legislative interests, and geographic representation.
  • Participation is open to all undergraduate students, not just those in the Honors Program.
  • Applications may be submitted by individuals or small groups.

Event details and deadlines

  • Feb. 28, 2025: Deadline to submit a Research in the Capitol Abstract
  • March 31, 2025: Research in the Capitol event
